Scrapping A Notebook

Another’s post inspired me to go shopping for a new purse (I am so not a shopper at heart. My idea of shopping involves food or books – not purses or clothes.). The one I currently had was much darker than the spring I was anticipating and anxious for. I wanted some bright colors infused in my day, and what better way than through a purse I would carry everywhere I went!

Naturally, you are wondering what in the world this has to do with scrapping a notebook. I’m getting there. My first thought when I was rifling through the purse - checking all possible pockets - was my current writer’s notebook wouldn’t fit. I was mortified! I buy purses on the basis that my notebook WILL fit. I couldn’t imagine buying this colorful, lovely purse (which I adored very much – not to mention it was on sale!) if my notebook wouldn’t fit. My notebook is like my bible and it is always with me no matter where I am going. Not having my notebook fit was NOT an option.

I had two choices: a) give up the purse and look for a bigger one, or b) keep the current purse I had. I didn’t care for either of those options. This purse was the only one my eyes kept coming back to -- and if any of you know what I’m talking about, it’s that moment when eyes meet purse and you know in that fleeting instant that it is the ONLY purse you are going to buy no matter how many others you ‘attempt’ to look at.

I opted for choice three.

Not only did I purchase the gorgeous-can’t-keep-my-eyes-off-you purse, but I also ventured to a few other stores that evening in search of a smaller (yes I said it) notebook.

I found one. It was...drab.

My other notebooks have always been decorated. I firmly believe in personalizing a notebook as it adds so much character and inspiration. So, I spent my Sunday afternoon perusing my hordes of scrapping supplies in search of those few things that would make this notebook me.

I love the outcome. It turned out better than I imagined.

I suppose a girl can have her purse and her notebook too.

As I was reading your dilemma I was thinking I could suggest a smaller notebook, but you solved your own problem. I hope both work out for you. Your purse choice definately shouts out SPRING! I believe you have removed the drab from the notebook. What a productive day you've had!

Love it! If found myself jealous of your purse search and desiring a hunt of my own. However, I must say that you are a brave woman to abandon your current writer's notebook. I'm not sure I could leave my current notebook incomplete for a new one. I love how the notebook turned out, and the purse is gorgeous!

That is a purse to die for!!! Yes, when you see it, you know it! Now you gave me ideas for decorating my writers notebook--never thought of scrapbooking it!! We are sure learning a lot about ourselves and other writers--love it!

I like scrap booking and I like buying something personal, so your writing kept me wondering the outcome. The compromise is beautiful.

The Weirdest Teacher in the Galaxy

Jordan is a 7th grade girl at my school and happens to be in my first hour class and visits me during lunch to work on homework. We realized early on our personalities clicked. Jordan's humor fills my day. She lifts me up when I am down. She provides a never ending saga of laughter and sarcasm. I will never tire of her presence nor her positive light on life. The following is just another moment of our exchange and the onslaught that follows. "My mouth just about fell out of its face!" This is the exclamation I proclaimed after I unknowingly chomped on a pinwheel for lunch (a tortilla rolled up with lettuce, meat, cheese and usually some sort of sauce inside and then cut into small sections). All other pinwheels brought in throughout the year had been 'normal' with basic ranch dressing sauce or some sort of cream cheese. Not this one. Nope. This bad boy was one molecule short of a nuclear bomb exploding in my mouth, covering all possible nerve endings with i...
